Sexual harassment: ex-SC judge AK Ganguly denies the statement of his intern
New Delhi, 30 November 2013:
Retired Justice AK Ganguly, accused by a young law intern of sexually torturing her, is now in trouble by facing the anger of West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress that has peremptory requested his resignation. The culprit is the Chairman of state human rights panel.
According to Trinamool MP Kalyan Banerjee, the judge has no moral right to continue his post as the chief of the human rights panel. Whatever he did, it is a big issue to the judicial system of the country and should not be allowed to determine about others’ rights.
TMC’s peremptory request comes after an official of the apex court made Justice Ganguly’s name revealed publicly on Friday. He revealed that the panel set up by the top court had recorded comments of the intern and the retired judge.
A three-member panel investigated the charge of sexual harassment of a law lawyer by retired Supreme Court justice AK Ganguly. According to judge, he disagreed with the statements of the intern. He has told the committee that all the allegations leveled by the intern is wrong. He doesn’t know how such allegations have been leveled against him.
