Delhi High Court awarded suspension of 10-day jail term to Rajpal Yadav

A bench of Justice BD Ahmed and Vibhu Bakhru suspended Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav’s 10-day jail term given for misleading the court in a suit against the comedian and his wife by a Delhi-based businessman. The Delhi high court awarded suspension to Yadav’s sentence on his appeal against the single judge’s order on Tuesday.
According to the reports, the court also issued notice to Delhi-based Murli Projects that had lodged a debt recovery suit in opposition to Yadav, and asked it to register a reply by Jan 22, 2014. The court claimed the Dec 3 order “will remain suspended till further order”. Yadav has stayed in the prison for three days. On Dec 6, a judge suspended his punishment and granted him time till Tuesday to lodge his status regarding appeal.
The lower court had ordered the comedian not to leave Delhi and India in the absence of its permission. The high court claimed the actor could finish his film projects inside India but “he will not travel outside the country”. The court also recorded statement given by Yadav that within a week he would give Rs20 lakh to Murli Projects.
The single judge had taken exception to an affidavit lodge by the actor Dec 2 that allegedly included his wife’s fake signature. The court was hearing a case in opposition to the actor for concealing truths about Rs5 crore-recovery suit lodged against him and his wife Radha by a Delhi-based businessman.
