More Mobile Tower In NDMC Area soon
New Delhi,26 December: NDMC area will have more mobile tower soon. This time the department will install “aesthetically pleasing towers” unlike the “ugly towers” used in the past. In order to get rid of the problem of frequent call drops in the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) areas, the civic agency’s telecommunication department has identified the ‘shadow areas’ where call drops are being reported quite often and will be installing telecom towers at feasible locations very soon. NDMC officials held two meetings with officials of the telecom department and the mobile service providers such as Airtel and Vodafone, which are helping officials in finding out the ‘problem areas’ where the new transmission towers will be installed on the feasibility. NDMC Sources said, “Areas such as North Block, South Block, Akbar Road, Prithviraj Road, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road, Zakir Hussain Road are some of the areas where there is network problem. The department will install aesthetically pleasing telecom towers at feasible locations so that the beauty of the area does not get destroyed and also the network connectivity is seamless.” The council will ensure that the existing towers are fully ultilised. According to the Telecom Policy, existing towers should be shared with four telecom operators. However, the department has spotted the towers shared by only one or two telecom operators. NDMS wants to fill this gap so that the existing telecom towers can be used optimally. For this, officers of the telecom department are finalising the policy guidelines on the lines of mobile tower policy of Government of India.
