A light hearted family comedy, CHAKKER PE CHAKKER is a well written play by multitalented Lucky Kataria who wrote, directed and played the lead role of Tunna.
chakkar pe chakkarCurtains open with a scene like any other Indian middle class family room, lady of the house Sharbati (Deepti) peeling vegetables and worrying about his son’s marriage.Husband entry also brings a smile on face of audience, but the actual energy comes in the show when the servant of the house Tunna (Lucky Kataria) enters. His character is very simple yet persuasive. He has the solution of every problem whether he has to please his master Rasila (Parminder Singh) or Sharbati. Tunna’s settlement to all characters with a funny dialogue “Gandhi Sunghao” has a flavor of satire. Play flow with the theme of Sahil’s (Ajay Sharma) marriage plans. It’s a tug of war topic between husband and wife, they want the son to marry as their choice of girl but son Sahil has his own preferences. His girlfriend Shanti (Komal) working as a maid. Tunna get attracted by her and the whole story turns in to Chakker pe Chakker….delivery of the entire play is very simple but full of substance. Each character is faithfully played by every actor. Lucky Kataria’s dialogues makes you laugh. Additional sidekick of the story is Komal Baba (Aman) who portrays a popular saint. The comedy breakschakkar-pe-chakkar-comedy-play down in several acts and introduces many characters. A blind beggar who played another role as beggar (Nitin), Tunna’s friend (Arjun), D’costa the invisible character yet weaved carefully. Deepti and Lucky Kataria played their characters with full conviction.
Set was simplest and no requirement of any elaboration. Costumes appropriate, lights are used to give good emphasis to set. Background music is extra element. Each actor plays very balanced performance although characterizations of few characters are elaborated but it played so subtly.
Lucky Kataria started his theatre journey 5 years back. Post graduated in Theatre and now pursuing for his M.Phil degree. Recently he received a scholarship by “Young Artists Association”.
“Dilli to Agra”, “Audition”, “Meri Shadi kerwao”, “Natak Hoga Kaise” some of other feathers on his cap. Upcoming play “Choron ki Gaadi” is almost ready to release soon. “CHAKKER PE CHAKKER” is a complete comic ride filled with everyday family drama, high and low pitch dialogues, and we see such kind of characters in our everyday life. CHAKKER PE CHAKKER is a play full of good humor, not a dull moment but it was a bit dragged towards the end. Lucky could reduce the time duration to keep audience grip. Overall good light hearted entertainment family can watch together.
